2009 “Palermo Design Week” Award was assigned to Studio Ivanka and designers Ákos Maurer Klimes and Péter Kucsera (from Hungary), for their project “Seeyou”. Saturday evening 30th May has been the date of the award ceremony in the beautiful garden of Villa Alliata Cardillo in the presence of journalists of the major Italian design magazines; of Marva Griffin (curator of the “Salone Satellite” Salone del Mobile, Milan) and Rosario Messina (President of Federlegno-Arredo, former President Cosmit, Salone del Mobile, Milan).

The Second Prize went to Stefan Schöning (from Belgium) for its project of corporate identity of the Belgian Railways.Ranking of the first fifths: Lucy D, Austria (third); Terhi Tuominen, Finland (fourth), and 3 fifth ex-aequo: Elina Busmane (Latvia), Neuland (Germany) Lonovics Zoltan (Hungary).
The Palermo Design Week took place from 25th until 31th of May. The event designed by Arch. Giuseppe Finocchio and organized by ICOD (cultural association based in Palermo) combined design, graphics, art, culture, and sustainable development.
The main exhibition is entitled “Storie di Design”, by Porzia Bergamasco, from the idea of Giuseppe Finocchio, 54 designers from each of the 27 countries of the European community, presented a project and the history that characterizes it. IVANKA have been invited to represent the Hungary and its design scene at the Palermo design week through showing ’Seeyou’.
Another original exhibition in Palermo is “Sperimentazioni intorno al design,” which presents projects developed in the degree course in industrial design faculty of Architecture of Palermo between 2002 and 2008. Other major exhibitions in Palermo included works by Beppe Finessi, Pasquale Volpe, Giuseppe Albanese, Antonio Scontrino, Marco Casamonti and Caterina Frisone.During the Design Week several workshops on design was held, organized in collaboration with the Department of Design of the Faculty of Architecture in Palermo.
